What is Gyokuro?
Gyokuro (玉露) is one of Japan’s finest and most luxurious green teas. Unlike sencha, gyokuro is grown under shade for about 20 to 30 days, which significantly increases its theanine (amino acids) content—the key component responsible for its deep umami and natural sweetness. This shading process also reduces bitterness, resulting in a smooth, rich, and complex flavor.
