  • Capacity: Suitable for 1 to 2 servings (approximately 100ml per person).
  • Material and Firing Process: The teapot is made from Shudei clay, which is fired at 1100°C and then carbonized at 800°C to achieve its black colour. The material contains no harmful substances.
  • Lid and Body Pairing: The lid and body are meticulously matched through a grinding process to ensure a perfect fit, which may result in some visible polishing marks.

Tokoname Yaki

Tokoname-yaki (Tokoname ware) has a history spanning over 1,000 years since the late Heian period and is recognized as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. This pottery-producing region is known for creating a wide range of products, from everyday items like teapots and tableware to architectural materials such as ceramic pipes, tiles, and sanitary ceramics. On June 11, 1976, Tokoname-yaki was designated as a traditional craft by the Japanese government under the "Act on the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries." Today, Tokoname ware is known for its iconic brick-red clay called shudei. Famously used in teaware and bonsai pots, this clay’s vibrant colour comes from its rich iron content. Tea steeped in unglazed Tokoname teapots is said to have a mellower taste.
