About Tokoname Ware: Tokoname ware is a type of Japanese ceramic with a history dating back over 1,000 years to the late Heian period. Counted among Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, the Tokoname region has long been renowned for its wide array of pottery products, ranging from everyday teapots and tableware to architectural materials like ceramic pipes, tiles, and sanitary fixtures. In 1976, Tokoname ware was designated as a Traditional Craft Product under Japan’s national law promoting the preservation of traditional industries.
