Aya no Mori (Ceremonial Matcha)

Named after an ancient tea garden predating the Uji Shichimeien, which was established by the Muromachi Shogunate, Aya no Mori is a delightful matcha ideal for everyday drinking as usucha (thin tea).

This matcha has a rich, full-bodied flavour, blending creamy, slightly nutty, and lightly toasted notes. Its aftertaste is impressively long-lasting and satisfying. Compared to Ryo no Kage, it offers a more rounded and intense flavour profile. For the best experience, use water at 85°C (185°F), as lower temperatures may bring out a slight bitterness.

This product is available in either a can or a box packaging. The packaging type will be selected at random and cannot be chosen at the time of purchase. Thank you for your understanding.

Kanbayashi Shunsho

Founded by Kanbayashi Shunsho during the Eiroku period, Kanbayashi Shunsho Honten has a rich 450-year history as a prestigious tea house in Uji. Since the late 14th century, when the Ashikaga Shogunate helped elevate the reputation of Uji tea, the Kanbayashi family has been producing Uji tea. Now in its 14th generation, the family continues to uphold tradition while embracing innovation under the leadership of Kanbayashi Shunsho XIV, preserving the legacy of Uji tea and contributing to the evolution of tea culture in Japan.

Nice!

I found this blend to be super beginner-friendly. It mainly tastes nutty, grassy, and smooth, with no astringency at all. At the end, it has a slight bitter taste (not unpleasant) that brings everything together. It's also why I feel people say it tastes like dark chocolate ( though its not the main flavor you will get from this blend). Also, you can enjoy it without any sweetener. I definitely recommend it for its quality and taste!
