About Shogyokuen
Shogyokuen's history dates back to the 10th year of the Bunsei era, when the Kobayashi family inherited a tea garden and began cultivating and producing tea. Initially, they focused on retail in the Kinai region. In 1923, Jiuemon Kobayashi named the business "Shogyokuen Seicha," marking the official founding year. Throughout the pre-war and post-war periods, Shogyokuen consistently achieved top rankings in tea competitions, dedicating themselves to improving quality. Located in the heart of Uji, a premier region for gyokuro and matcha production, Shogyokuen has maintained a steadfast commitment to tea for over 190 years, managing the entire process from cultivation to sales.
