Sazumi Mukashi (Ceremonial Matcha for Koicha)
Sazumi Mukashi takes its name from the Edo period, when some years saw tea buds sprouting earlier than usual, and this matcha was made from those early-harvested leaves.
As a koicha (thick tea), Sazumi Mukashi excels with everything one desires in a high-quality thick tea. It is versatile, with a rich umami taste and a fresh herbal note reminiscent of basil leaves. The deep, chocolatey flavour makes it a perfect match for a relaxing tea time. The indulgent aftertaste blends walnut and vanilla, offering a flavour profile similar to bold yet sweet desserts like macarons.
